How to Travel Like a Champ.

This post if for all of you who have officially been diagnosed with the Travel Bug.
Symptoms may include: restlessness, addicted to tumblr travel and beach porn, or compulsively shopping for flights, luggage and bikinis.

It’s okay.

We’re all in this together.

But seriously you guys, if you are serious about traveling or even love the frequent weekend voyage, then I have some tips and tricks I’ve learned along the way.

Trust me.

After 7 countries and 4 years of almost non-stop travel, I’ve definitely learned, usually the hard way, what it takes to keep the journey as smooth as possible.

  1. Prepare yo’self

Me, super prepared on my way to Colorado, 2016.

    Seriously people!!
Traveling is a whole lot less scary if you have all of the proper documentation, information, and reservations that you need.

    I’m talking
phone, keys, wallet, cash, flight tickets, passport, hotel reservation confirmations, flight plan confirmations, visa documentation (if you are traveling into another country).

I know this seems like a lot unnecessary paperwork but trust me, it’s worth it to have it with you.

Whenever things can go wrong, they will. Being prepared can and will save you from some serious headaches and road bumps down the line.

2. Know what you need to be comfortable.

Traveling usually entails, at least at first, long distances in tight, rather uncomfortable seats.

Whether you are traveling by plane, train, bus, or even car; knowing what you need to be comfortable is the difference between a loooooong trip, or a loooooong nap.

I’m talking:
headphones,
eye-masks,
neck pillow,
blanket,
Netflix,
snacks,
hand sanitizer,
chewing gum,
sleeping pills.
Whatever you need.

Do it.

Seriously.

Comfort is worth it.

3. Pack Light

I CANNOT STRESS THIS TIP ENOUGH!

I know that you want to be prepared, but trust me, you DO NOT NEED the hair dryer, hair straightener, AND curling iron and eight pounds of make up.

Everything I need to bring for about 7 days.

This goes for men too! There is NO reason that you need to bring 5 pairs of Jordans and Nike Airs, okay? It’s just unnecessary!

Essentials only, people.

The less you have, the easier it is to be mobile (which is the whole point of traveling right?), and the less you have, the harder it is for pickpockets and thieves to take advantage of you.

If everything you need is on your back, it becomes pretty hard to lose your stuff.

4. Relax

Enjoy the ride. IMG_0853.JPG

That’s what traveling is all about right? Getting out of your comfort zone, explore something new, get lost, make memories.

Don’t be too afraid if something goes wrong, because it probably will.

Just take a deep breath, remember how effing prepared you are, take the leap, and have fun .

It’s worth it.  I promise.

P.S.

This is just a short list of a few quick tips to help make your travels that much easier. If you guys have any questions, comments, or tips you’d like to offer, feel free to leave them in the comments below.

I love to hear from fellow travelers.
